How AI Job Matching Works
Smart Job Matches (tap Smart Matching in the navigation) is HelperGen's AI-powered job discovery tool. Instead of making you browse all available jobs manually, the AI analyses every open job on the platform and compares it against your provider profile to calculate a personalised match score for each one.
The AI considers your registered service categories, typical rates, location, availability, past job history, and ratings. This analysis runs automatically and continuously — your matches update as new jobs are posted, as you complete more jobs, and as your profile improves.
The results are sorted by match score so the jobs you are most likely to win appear at the top.
Gen Ultra Toggle
In the top-right corner of the page you will see a Gen Ultra Off / Gen Ultra On button. Gen Ultra is HelperGen's AI writing assistant.
When you turn Gen Ultra On, the page switches to the Gen Ultra view where you can describe what you are looking for in plain language and the AI will help you craft a personalised application cover message, summarise job opportunities, and suggest the best jobs to apply for based on your profile.
When Gen Ultra Off, the standard Smart Job Matches view is shown with filters and job cards.
Smart Filters Explained
The Smart Filters panel at the top of the page lets you refine which matched jobs are displayed. Here is every filter and what it does:
Minimum Match Score A slider from 0% to 100%. Only jobs with a match score equal to or above this threshold are shown. The default is 50% — this shows jobs where you have at least a moderate fit. Raise it to 75%+ to see only your strongest matches. Lower it to 0% if you want to explore all available jobs.
Maximum Distance (km) A slider from 5 km to 100 km controlling how far from your location a job can be. The default is 50 km. Jobs beyond this radius are hidden. Reduce this if you only want work nearby, or increase it if you are willing to travel.
Date Range Filter by when matched jobs are scheduled:
- Any Time (default): All upcoming jobs regardless of date
- Today / Tomorrow / This Week / This Month: Quick presets
- Custom Range: Pick a specific date window using the date picker
Include jobs you've already applied to By default, jobs you have already applied to are hidden from the matches list (since you do not need to apply again). Check this box to show them — useful for tracking your active applications in context.
Show Gen match explanations When checked, each job card expands to include an AI-generated explanation of why this job was matched to you — what aspects of your profile align with this posting. This is a learning tool to help you understand what drives your match scores.
Reset Filters: Click the × Reset Filters link to return all filters to their defaults instantly.
Reading a Match Card
Each matched job is displayed as a card. Here is every element and what it means:
Match Score Badge (large coloured circle, right side): Shows the AI's calculated compatibility percentage (e.g., 95%). Higher is better. Colour coding:
- Green / teal (75%–100%): Strong match — you are well-suited for this job
- Blue (50%–74%): Good match — worth applying if the details suit you
- Grey / lower (<50%): Weak match — only shown if your minimum score filter is low
Perfect Match badge (green chip): Displayed when a job scores close to 100% — the strongest possible alignment between your profile and this posting.
Job Title: The job poster's title for the work (e.g., C4 – Post-Party Cleanup – Kitchen & Living Room). Click to open the full job detail page.

Your Match Score Explained
The match score (0–100%) on each card is calculated from four components:
- Service alignment (40%): How closely the job's required service type matches the categories you have listed on your profile
- Rate alignment (25%): Whether your typical rate falls within the job poster's budget range
- Location fit (20%): How close the job site is to your home base or defined service area
- Availability (15%): Whether the job's scheduled date and time overlap with the availability you have set in your profile
A score above 70% means you are well-positioned. A score below 50% suggests the job is outside your usual parameters — you can still apply, but you may face stronger competition from better-matched providers.
Improving Your Match Score
To see higher scores and more frequent matches, improve your profile:
- Complete every profile field: A fully filled profile (bio, photo, all service categories, rates, and address) scores significantly higher than an incomplete one
- Add all your service categories: The more services you list with specific rates, the wider the net the AI casts for you
- Set your service area precisely: A defined home address and service radius produces better location matches than a vague city name
- Earn positive reviews: High ratings from past jobs improve your match quality — the AI favours providers with proven track records
- Get identity-verified: Verified providers are matched more prominently and trusted more by job posters
- Update your profile regularly: Stale profiles score lower — refresh your bio, rates, and availability periodically
