Finding and Applying for Jobs

Browsing Available Jobs

The Available Jobs page (tap Find Jobs in the navigation) shows all open jobs in your area that match your registered service categories. Jobs are sorted newest-first by default and update in real time as new postings go live.

The page has two main sections:

  1. Filter Jobs — a panel of controls to narrow results
  2. Job Results — the grid of job cards matching your current filters

At the top of the results you can always see how many jobs match your current filters (e.g., Showing 4 of 4 jobs) and your detected city.

Filtering and Sorting

The Filter Jobs panel lets you narrow the job list to exactly what you are looking for. Here is every control and what it does:

Job Type Choose which service categories to show. Toggle All Types to see every category, or Popular to see the most common ones. You can also tap individual categories (Cleaning Services, Digital Document & Admin Help, Event Support, etc.) to select only those. Multiple categories can be selected at once.

Keyword Search Type any word to search across job titles, descriptions, and Job IDs. Useful when you are looking for a specific type of task (e.g., "carpet") or a job you have seen before.

Minimum Budget Enter a dollar amount to hide jobs whose maximum budget falls below your minimum acceptable rate. Leave blank to see all budgets.

Date Range Filter by when the job is scheduled:

Maximum Distance (km) Drag the slider from 1 km to 100 km to set how far you are willing to travel. The badge below the slider shows your current setting. When the slider reaches the far right, it shows No limit — all jobs within the platform are shown regardless of distance.

Show Urgent Jobs Only Tick this checkbox to show only jobs marked Urgent by the job poster. Urgent jobs typically have a fast-approaching date or the poster needs someone quickly — they are highlighted with an orange Urgent badge.

Show Bookmarked Only Tick this checkbox to see only the jobs you have bookmarked. Use bookmarks to shortlist interesting jobs while you browse and come back to them later.

Sort By Change how results are ordered:

Clear All Filters Click the × Clear All Filters link in the top-right of the filter panel to reset every filter back to its default at once.

Reading a Job Card

Each job in the results grid is shown as a card. Here is every element you will see and what it means:

Job Title: The name the job poster gave the job (e.g., Post-Party Cleanup – Kitchen & Living Room). Click the title or the card to open the full job detail page.

Job ID (e.g., #JOB-26-158533): A unique reference number for this booking. Use this number if you ever need to contact HelperGen support about a specific job.

URGENT badge (orange): The job poster flagged this as urgent — they need someone quickly. Apply immediately if you are available.

Report Job (flag icon): If the posting appears fraudulent, inappropriate, or misleading, click the flag to report it to HelperGen. Your report is anonymous.

Bookmark (bookmark icon): Save this job to your bookmarks list for quick access later. Tap again to remove the bookmark. Use Show Bookmarked Only in the filters to view your saved list.

Private Note (document icon): Write a personal note about this job that only you can see — parking instructions, a reminder to bring specific tools, or anything you want to remember. Notes are highlighted in indigo when content exists.

Job Poster Info: The poster's profile photo, full name, star rating (e.g., ★ 5.0 (3)), and how long they have been on HelperGen (e.g., Since 2025). Click their name to view their full profile.

Service Type: The category this job falls under (e.g., Cleaning Services, Event Support). This tells you what skills are needed.

Description excerpt: The first few lines of what the job entails. Click the card to read the complete description.

Location: The city and postal code area (e.g., Winnipeg R2G 0X4). The exact street address is only shown once you are hired. The blue badge shows your distance from the job in kilometres (e.g., 6.8 km away).

Date and Time: When the job is scheduled (e.g., Aug 8, 2026 at 16:00). Check this against your availability before applying.

Budget: The job poster's stated hourly rate range in green (e.g., $30 – $50). Your proposed rate should fall within or near this range.

Posted: When the job was published (e.g., Apr 25, 2026). Newer jobs have more open application slots.

View Details button: Opens the full job detail page without starting the application flow — useful for reading the complete description before deciding to apply.

Apply button (green): Starts the application process directly from the card.
