Understanding Your Gen Points
Gen Points are HelperGen's credit system used to publish jobs and access premium provider features. Your Gen Points balance is shown on your dashboard and updated in real time after every transaction. Open Gen Points → Transactions to see a complete log of every point earned, spent, and purchased.
Transaction Types
Your transaction history includes these types:
- Bundle Purchase: Gen Points added after buying a bundle
- Welcome Bonus: Gen Points credited when you first joined (75–100 for job posters, 75 for providers)
- Job Posting: Gen Points deducted when you published a job
- Job Completion Reward: 5 Gen Points earned each time one of your posted jobs is completed
- Referral Reward: Gen Points earned when someone you referred signs up and completes their first job
- Premium Feature: Gen Points deducted for provider premium features (custom handle, portfolio, widget)
Gen Points for Job Posting
The Gen Points cost to post a job is based on the maximum budget you set:
| Maximum Budget | Gen Points Deducted |
|---|---|
| Under $120 | 0 (Free) |
| $120 – $299 | 25 |
| $300 – $699 | 50 |
| $700 and above | 100 |
This deduction appears in your transaction history as Job Posting — [Job Title] on the date you clicked Publish. Gen Points for posting are not refunded for cancelled jobs.
Earning Gen Points
There are several ways to earn Gen Points:
- Welcome bonus: Automatically credited when your account is activated
- Job completion (job posters): Earn 5 Gen Points each time a job you posted is marked complete
- Referrals: Earn Gen Points when friends you referred sign up and complete their first activity — see the Referrals page for current reward amounts
- Promotions: Occasional bonus credits may be issued for platform promotions or feedback participation
Running Low on Gen Points
If your Gen Points balance drops below the cost of your next job, you will see a warning when you try to publish. You have two options:
- Buy more Gen Points: Go to Gen Points → Buy Bundles to top up instantly
- Reduce your job budget: Lower your maximum budget to a tier that costs fewer (or zero) Gen Points
You can always view your current balance before publishing — the exact cost is shown on the confirmation screen. Gen Points do not expire, so there is no rush to spend them.
