HelperGen is a trusted marketplace that connects people who need support with tasks to skilled, verified service providers. Whether you need a cleaner, handyperson, caregiver, or any other home service, HelperGen makes it easy to post a job, receive applications, and pay securely — all in one place. Posting a public job is free, and Gen, our AI job assistant, is free to use. You also receive free welcome Gen Points for optional features when you create your account. Additional bonus Gen Points may be awarded when you complete your profile or participate in a launch promotion.
What You Can Do as a Job Poster
As a job poster you can:
- Post jobs using our AI assistant (voice or text) or a manual form
- Review applications from service providers and compare their rates
- Invite providers you trust directly to apply for your job
- Message providers within the platform before and during the job
- Pay securely via Stripe — no cash handling required
- Track job progress and receive real-time updates
- Rate and review providers after the job is complete
- Invite family members to enable you to manage your jobs
Step 1: Complete Your Profile
A complete profile helps providers understand who they will be working for and builds trust. To complete your profile:
- Click your profile picture or name in the top navigation bar
- Select Profile from the menu
- Add your full name, profile photo, phone number, and address
- Set your timezone so job schedules display correctly
- Add emergency contacts if needed
- Click Save Changes
Providers can see your first name, general neighbourhood, and rating — your full address is only shared after you hire a provider.
Step 2: Understand Gen Points
Posting a public job is free. Create your job with Gen, our AI job assistant, or with the manual form. Neither costs Gen Points. Gen includes a generous free daily allowance; if you ever reach it, the manual form is always available.
Gen Points are HelperGen's credits for optional features. New job posters receive free welcome Gen Points, and you earn 5 Gen Points each time a job you posted is completed. You can buy more from the Bundles page at any time.
Step 3: Post Your First Job
To post a job:
- Click Post a Job on your dashboard or navigation bar
- Choose AI Assistant (recommended) — describe your task in plain language and the AI builds the job for you — or choose Manual to fill in a form
- Enter your job details: title, description, service category, date, time, budget, and location
- Optionally add photos (before/after, reference images)
- Review the job summary and click Publish
Once published, your job is visible to providers who match your service category.
Step 4: Hire Your Provider
Once providers apply:
- Go to My Jobs and open the job
- Click View Applications to see all applicants
- Review each provider's profile, rating, and proposed rate
- Click Accept on the provider you want to hire
- The provider is notified immediately and the job moves to Accepted status
- On the day of the job, authorize payment — either manually or via auto-authorization
- When the job is complete, confirm completion and leave a rating
Payment is only charged after the job is marked complete.
