Managing Your Job Applications

Your Applications at a Glance

The My Applications page (tap My Applications in the navigation) is your complete history of every job you have applied to on HelperGen. Each application card shows the full context of where that job stands — the client, your proposed rate, the schedule, the current status, and a link to the job detail page.

Applications are listed in reverse chronological order (most recent first). Use the Filter Applications panel to narrow by status, keyword, or date range.

Filter Applications

The Filter Applications panel at the top of the page has three controls:

Keyword Search Type any word to search across job titles, Job IDs, client names, locations, and job descriptions. Useful when you remember a specific job but cannot find it by scrolling.

Date Range (From / To) Enter a start and end date (format: YYYY-MM-DD) to filter applications by when you applied. Leave both fields blank to see all time.

Status Tabs Filter by current application status using the coloured tab buttons:

You can combine a keyword search with a status tab filter at the same time.

Reading an Application Card

Each application card shows the full picture of that booking:

Job Title: The name of the job you applied to. Click the title to open the full job detail page.

Job ID (e.g., #JOB-25-421149): Unique reference number for this job.

Applied On: The date you submitted the application (shown in the top-right of the card, e.g., Applied On: 2026-04-26).

Status Badges: One or more coloured badges showing the current state:

Your Proposed Rate (e.g., $30/hr): The hourly rate you bid when you applied.

Proposed Date/Time (e.g., Proposed: 5/2/2026 04:00 PM): The start date and time you proposed in your application.

Client Section: The job poster's photo, full name, and star rating — so you can see who you are working for.

Location: The city and postal code of the job site (e.g., Winnipeg, R2G 0X4). The full street address becomes visible once you are accepted.

Preferred Schedule: The job poster's originally requested date and start time (may differ from your proposed time).

Job Description: A summary of the work required for this job.

View Job button (blue): Opens the full job detail page where you can see all job information, your agreement, and the completion tools.

Pending Applications

A Pending application means the job poster has received your bid but has not yet made a hiring decision. While pending:

Pending applications can stay open until the job is filled, expires, or is cancelled by the job poster.

Accepted Applications

When a job poster hires you, your application moves to Accepted (shown in green). You will receive a push notification and email immediately.

Once accepted:

  1. The full job address is revealed on the job detail page
  2. Gen Points are permanently deducted from your balance (the reservation converts to a charge)
  3. The job appears on your Upcoming Work dashboard schedule
  4. You can message the job poster directly to confirm details
  5. On the job day, navigate to the address and begin work
  6. Use the Quick Pay Code flow to complete the job and trigger payment

Completed Applications

Completed applications are jobs that have been fully finished and paid. The job poster authorized your payment (or it was auto-released after 48 hours), and Stripe has processed the payout to your bank account.

Completed jobs remain in your Applications history permanently — use them to:

Rejected and Cancelled Applications

Rejected: The job poster reviewed your application and chose a different provider. Your reserved Gen Points are returned to your balance immediately. Rejection is normal — experienced providers apply to multiple jobs per acceptance. There is no account penalty for being rejected.

Cancelled: The job was cancelled after you were accepted — either by the job poster, by mutual agreement, or by you. Gen Points handling depends on the cancellation circumstances:

Auto-Cancelled: The system cancelled this automatically. Common reasons include the job expiring with no hiring decision, the job poster deleting the posting, or the job date passing with no action. Gen Points reserved for auto-cancelled applications are always returned.

Withdrawing an Application

To withdraw a pending application at any time:

  1. Open the Applications page
  2. Click View Job on the application you want to withdraw
  3. On the job detail page, click Withdraw Application
  4. Confirm the withdrawal

Withdrawing a Pending application has no penalty — your Gen Points are returned immediately.

Withdrawing an Accepted application counts as a cancellation and will affect your cancellation rate. A high cancellation rate can reduce your badge status and lower your visibility in job searches. If you must cancel after acceptance, message the job poster first and give as much notice as possible.
