Managing Your Notification Preferences

Types of Notifications

HelperGen sends notifications for the following 12 types of events:

Enabling and Disabling Notifications

To manage your notification preferences:

  1. Go to Notifications → Settings (or click the bell icon in the navigation)
  2. At the top of the page you will see the Email channel toggle — this is a master switch for all email notifications. Turn it off to stop all HelperGen emails at once.
  3. Below the master switch, each individual notification type has its own toggle. Turn specific types on or off to customize exactly what you hear about.
  4. Changes save automatically — no need to click a Save button.

All notifications on HelperGen are delivered via email to the address registered on your account. Customize each type individually to match your preferences.

Notification Types

The Notification Types section lets you control exactly which events trigger an email. Each toggle is independent — you can receive job updates but opt out of system announcements, for example.

Job Updates — Sent when one of your job postings changes status, including status changes such as a provider being accepted or a job completing.

Provider Applications (job posters only) — Sent when a service provider applies to one of your jobs.

New Messages — Sent when you receive a new message from a service provider.

Payment Updates — Sent for payment and invoice activity.

System Announcements — Important updates and news about HelperGen.

Upcoming Jobs — Reminders about your scheduled services.

Verification Reminders — Sent when a verification credential is nearing expiry.

Feature Subscriptions — Updates about your active premium features.

Bundle & Gen Points — Notifications about Gen Points purchases, usage, and low balance alerts.

Smart Invitations (providers only) — Sent when a job poster invites you to apply for a job, or when your application is selected.

Reviews & Ratings — Sent when you receive a new review, when a rating is updated, or when a review reminder is issued.

Job Opportunities (providers only) — Alerts for new jobs that match your listed services and location. When this toggle is on, three optional filters appear below it to narrow which alerts you receive.

Job Opportunities Filters

When Job Opportunities is enabled, a filter panel appears below the toggle. All three filters are optional — leave any field blank to use the system default for that filter. Filters apply in addition to the standard AI matching that selects which jobs are relevant to your services and location.

Minimum Match Score (%)

Only receive alerts for jobs where the AI match score is at or above this percentage. Accepts a whole number from 0 to 100. Leave blank to use the system default, which notifies you of any job the AI considers a reasonable match for your profile. Use this filter if you are getting too many alerts and want to restrict to only strong matches.

Maximum Distance (km)

Only receive alerts for jobs located within this many kilometres of your registered location. Accepts a whole number from 1 to 50. Leave blank to use the system default maximum distance. Use this filter if you only want to work in a tighter area than the platform default.

Minimum Budget ($)

Only receive alerts for jobs where the job budget meets or exceeds this dollar amount. The platform checks the job's maximum budget first; if no maximum is set, it checks the minimum budget. Accepts a whole number of 0 or more, with no upper limit. Leave blank to receive alerts regardless of budget. Use this filter if you do not want to be notified about low-budget jobs.

Changes to these filters are saved when you click Save Settings at the bottom of the page along with all other notification preferences.

Email Notifications

All HelperGen notifications are delivered by email to the address registered on your account. Use the Notification Channels section at the top of the settings page to turn all emails on or off with a single toggle. When email notifications are disabled, all individual notification type settings have no effect.

When email is enabled, use the Notification Types section to choose exactly which events send you an email. Each type can be toggled on or off independently.
